Our proprietary floating seal is at the heart of many solenoid valve designs in our catalog. In principle, the seal disc is free to float between two optically flat seats, creating a bi-directional gate-style valve that prevents particles from accumulating on the sealing surface of the seats. Every time the valve is actuated, the seal disc wipes across the seat, pushing any particulate out of the way to ensure a tight seal.
Floating seal and poppet valves are found in missiles, spacecraft, satellites, and rockets, along with their respective ground-based launch vehicles. These valves are especially suited for maintain dependable operation under high vibration conditions typical during launch, as well as extreme high and low temperatures in spacecraft control systems. Designs are available for inert, corrosive, and oxidizer gas applications, as well as hydraulic control systems.
