Report To Quality Control Manager, VP – Quality Systems
Job Summary Design, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) the appropriate inspection techniques, processes, gauging and requirments to maintain quality of manufactured components and finished products. Assist the Quality Management to formulate quality control programs involving the development and design of inspection instruments and devices, application, methods and techniques. Instruct and train personnel in the use of inspection and testing devices, methods and techniques.
Essential Functions
  • Determine and implement inspection techniques and processes.
  • Evaluate, propose and implement gauging needs and requirements.
  • Review Part and Final prints for proper inspection criteria.
  • Create inspection (and other as required) work instructions and best practices.
  • Program CMM and like inspection equipment.
  • Investigate manufacturing hardware and engineering parts discrepencies.
  • Conduct investigative studies to determine reasons for defects and effect corrective and remedial actions.
  • Assist with investigative procedures on customer complaints and advise Quality Management on technical matters complaints and/or when directed and work closely with customer representatives to solve problems relative to complaints.
  • Instruct and train inspectors in the use of inspection and testing devices, methods and techniques.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Control, Quality Assurance and other business entities for process improvement in a professional manner.
  • Comply with company policies and practices, administer work rules and regulations and, when necesssary take the necessary disciplinary actions.
  • Assist the Quality Management with other departmental administrative functions, e.g. employee performance appraisals, wage administrative procedures, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining qualtiy control records and preparoing reports incidental to the procedures and funtions of the department.
  • Must adhere to all safety regulations and best practices.
  • Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
  • Arrives to work on time, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • College graduate with degree in engineering, or equivalent actual expereience, with additional training in areas such as Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Shop inspection practices.
  • 4-8 years’ experience in various engineering phases, production and/or manufacturing engineering, quality control and reliability engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise individuals, through effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • ASQ Certification and/or experience with lean manufacturing techniques and the use of Six Sigma tools is desired.
Requisite Skills Required
  • PC computer and MS Office Applications.
  • CMM and like equipment knowledge and practical capability.
  • Through contact with professional organizations, educational institutions, and perusal of text books, periodicals and technical papers, keep abreast of new developments on quality control and related procedures.
Relationships Work closely with Product and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing and Inspection personnel on procedural problems involving design, methods, tooling, costs and other areas involved in the control of product quality. Provide liaison between company and customers and source inspectors. Escort/accompany visitors while in building and to off-site test labs to insure conformity with audit procedures and specifications.
Equipment/Machinery Used Various Quality tools and techniques required, plus the use of calibration tools and guages including CMM and like equipment. Computer equipment and MS Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point).
Physical Requirements Lifting up to 25lbs regularly and 50lbs occasionally, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and typing. Must Pass necessary Eye Exam.
