Report To President and CEO-Valcor Engineering Corp.
Job Summary Responsible for all Quality activities for the Valcor Engineering Corp. site including:
  • Manage the entire Quality function for the company, including direct reports in the Quality Assurance and the Quality Control department
  • Ensuring that the company’s products conform to all specifications and customer requirements
  • Ensuring the production-required turn-around time of product through QC
  • Directing/overseeing activities associated with maintaining all company certifications, and all external agency approvals such as AS9100 certification, ASME certification, NADCAP; NUPIC
  • Directing/overseeing all inspection functions, configuration management, and quality assurance processes;
  • Serving as the interface with customers and vendors on all quality related topics
  • Driving Defect Paretos and closure of MRRs and Root-Cause-Corrective Action and mistake-proofing activities
  • Driving leaning out of Inspection activities
  • Driving Supplier Quality Metrics
Essential Functions and Responsibilities (1) Quality Processes:
  • Senior management and functional accountability for the operation of Valcor’s quality control processes, both in the office and factory and at vendors
  • Drive the efficient, lean use of Quality to ensure that product conforms, but also continues to support on-time delivery and that quality does not become a bottleneck
  • Drive efficient use of Quality resources, developing tooling and procedures for constant efficiency and improvements
  • Drive Root Cause Corrective Actions and mistake proofing to ensure Year-over-year decrease in defects and escapes
  • Continuous improvement in quality control efficiency and throughput without increasing escapes
  • Work closely with all key functions to integrate a Quality mindset into every aspect of Valcor’s business
  • Oversee Valcor’s processes to obtain and maintain ‘perfect customer metrics’
  • Ensure that the company’s products conform to all specifications and customer requirements
  • Ensure world-class quality levels are established at the product design stage and quality system is focused on process control working in conjunction with lean manufacturing systems
  • Develop data-driven and customer-focused capabilities that result in measurable improvements in product, process and supplier quality, customer support, responsiveness, and product reliability
  • Responsible for assuring that customer quality requirements have been adequately defined to permit appropriate quality planning and implementation and that the quality requirements have been met
  • Develop, implement and sustain all quality systems. Champion and facilitate the use of LEAN/ Six Sigma, and other quality tools for quality and process improvement
  • Provide supplier quality assurance for the products and services of Valcor and assist in assuring the achievement of the optimum quality costs for the company
  • Establish realistic quality goals and supporting tactics to achieve the company business plans
  • Achieve optimum balance among prevention, appraisal, and failure costs
  • Actively participate in the strategic business planning of the company and participate in all major quality-related decisions in all phases of the business
(2) Certifications, Inspection and Audit:
  • Direct/oversee the activities associated with maintaining all company certifications as well as external agency approvals such as AS9100D certification, ASME certification, NADCAP, NUPIC
  • Direct/oversee the Quality Inspection function
  • Evaluate, develop and maintain activities required to audit quality effectiveness, including the planning and execution of programs of audits; procedure audits; quality-systems audits, and product audits.
Education and Skills Requirements
  • 4 year technical degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years experience in various phases of Quality Assurance or equivalent in Aerospace, Defense, or Nuclear Power generation environments
  • Candidate shall have technical hand-on experience in inspection of small, complex machined parts and assemblies
  • This is a hands-on role, requiring building and enhancing an accountable team
  • Ability to drive activity scheduling and turn-around time to ensure on-time performance
  • Outstanding leadership skills; ability to motivate, train, develop, and evaluate subordinates
  • Must be mobile, capable of communicating with plant personnel at all levels
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; composing written reports and other communications
  • Superior analytical skills, capable of using current computer analysis tools (Microsoft Office, plus others applicable programs such as Minitab)
