Summary

The Design Engineer for On-Board Inert Gas Generating System (OBIGGS) components will learn the construction, function, performance and operating conditions of the membrane Air Separation Module (ASM) designed and manufactured by Electroid. Some of this learning will be accomplished by hands-on experience with building and testing the ASM and its components. The position also has the responsibility for operating, modifying and calibrating the electrical and pneumatic test equipment for the ASM. The engineer will eventually modify and design new ASM products for new customers and new applications.

Essential Functions
  • Review and learn about the drawings and reports for existing ASM products and components
  • Review, evaluate and modify existing wiring diagrams, piping diagrams and control schematics for pneumatic and electrical test equipment for the ASM products and components
  • Create new drawings for new components and new test equipment
  • Learn how to use and specify test equipment to measure air temperature, pressure and flow
  • Operate test equipment and record test data
  • Conduct development testing and write engineering reports
  • Conduct and assist with customer qualification testing
  • Gather and analyze test data
  • Perform design analysis on existing and new products using Solidworks and various design tools internally developed at Electroid
  • Present technical information internally to management and externally to subcontractors and customers
  • Move parts and equipment to and from the work area
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the work area and adhere to all safety regulations and best practices
  • May be required to perform other duties as directed by supervision
Minimum Qualifications
  • BME from an accredited engineering college
  • 2 years engineering experience preferred
Requisite Skills Required
  • Ability to operate electrical and pneumatic test equipment and data acquisition (DAQ) systems
  • Using Microsoft Office, Solidworks and Labview software
Equipment / Machinery Used Electrical and pneumatic test equipment. Personal Computer. Hand tools.
Physical Requirements Lifting up to 25lbs regularly and 70lbs occasionally, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and typing.
