Job Title Jr. Staff Engineer – Aerospace Engineering
Location Springfield, NJ
Reports to Chief Engineer & Program Management
Education Required Bachelor’s degree in mechanical and or aerospace engineering
Experience Required This is an entry level contract position with a focus on developing practical experience by drawing from knowledge acquired during academic study. Strong candidates may have direct hire opportunity following contract term
Summary

Engineer will support project engineers and stress analysts with design validation and the creation and/or revision of technical reports in support of major commercial aircraft and spaceflight programs. Initial responsibilities will be basic and will increase as skills develop. Engineer should expect a minimum of 50% of work time to be generating reports to document analysis results and engineering design characteristics.

Typical responsibilities include deriving mass properties tables from solid models, creating material usage lists from engineering drawings, working with engineers to generate FMEA reports, reliability analysis calculations and reporting, generating material testing reports, and compiling mechanical and physical property data reports.

Key Accountabilities
  • Maintain focus on assigned tasks with strong time management and work prioritization skills.
  • Accurately perform various engineering calculations.
  • Write technical reports based on analysis from senior level stress analysts.
  • Demonstrate adequate development in the following areas through course of contract:
    • FMEA and component reliability calculations
    • Non-Destructive Evaluation methods
    • Mechanical properties of materials and materials testing
  • Interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and engineering documents to generate tables, charts, and figures to be compiled into reports for customers.
  • Assist project engineers with various tasks as required.
  • Work closely with project manager to provide progress updates and reliably meet commitments for completion of tasks and reports.
  • Work towards the achievement of the company vision statement. Be familiar and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policy as it relates to their area of work.
  • Comply with all company policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of CAD (Preferably SolidWorks)
  • MatLab or MathCAD experience
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong command of English language and grammar
  • High level of attention to detail
Other Key Criteria
  • Previous aerospace industry experience
  • Advanced Degree obtained or in process
  • Basic understanding of finite element analysis
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and release process
